About Jack Cody of Greeley

Jack Cody of Greeley, Colorado, practiced chiropractor and studied at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During his career as a Doctor of Chiropractic, Jack put his talents to work to help others achieve their pain-reduction goals. She, a chiropractor, was capable of treating a wide range of conditions, including common spinal misalignments and traumas that can cause pain and discomfort.

Jack had many other facets. He loved nature, photography, learning, and, of course, his family.

Inspired by the Outdoors at Early Age

He was born on August 8, 1947, in Sterling, Colorado, an only child of Jerry and Ruth Cody. He spent a great deal of time with both of his parents. As a child, his favorite snack was his mom’s cinnamon knots. He and his dad enjoyed taking walks and drives, inspired by the beauty of nature, its landscapes, and its wildlife. During these many walks and drives, Jack and his father formed a lifelong camaraderie, reveling in their familial conversations. This time also shaped Jack’s love for the outdoors.

A Passion for Learning

In addition to the outdoors, Jack was dedicated to learning. After graduating from high school, he attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, graduating in 1967. He continued his education, attending the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and an emphasis in Special Education.

Immediately after graduation, Jack began teaching while attending the University of Northern Colorado’s Master’s Program. During this time, he met his beautiful Iranian wife, and they married in 1975. Jack and his wife moved to Iran for a brief period to spend some time with her family. While in Iran, Jack taught English and documented their adventures through photography.

After returning to Colorado, Jack resumed teaching and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Special Education in 1978. In 1979, Jack and his wife welcomed their first child, a daughter.

A Career Change and Back to School

By the late 1970s, Jack had been teaching for approximately ten years and was working toward his doctorate in Special Education Administration. He had completed all his coursework, with only a doctoral thesis left to complete. However, something was missing, so in 1983, Jack decided to change career tracks and applied to the Palmer College of Chiropractic. He was accepted and quickly moved his family to Iowa, beginning a new chapter in his life.

In 1984, Jack and his wife welcomed their second child, a son. During his doctorate program at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Jack opted to write his thesis on the “Sense of Sight through a Photograph. It was his way of sharing his passion for photography with his newly chosen profession.

Jack, the chiropractor, graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1986, telling everyone he was among the oldest in his graduating class. Soon after graduation, he moved his family back to Colorado to open his private practice in Greeley and reconnect with the mountains. He wanted to continue to capture his love for nature through his camera lens.

The “Sense of Sight through a Photograph”

Her passion in life was photography, and he gravitated towards nature, wildlife, and landscapes as his subjects. As an avid photographer, writer, and education enthusiast, Jack understood the importance of light in a photograph. He shared that the beauty of a flower cannot be photographed under bright, direct sunlight, but it is better to photograph it in soft light on a cloudy day. He said the same guide works when you want to capture the essence of a person.

Jack had a soft touch with his photography. He was patient and thoughtful so that his audience could genuinely see the beauty of his subject from his eye to his lens and the photograph he shared. Jack’s photography was his way of telling a story, his story.

Jack of Greeley’s intellect and connection to nature truly shines through in his photography. Along with photography, Jack was an avid storyteller, capturing every detail with his camera to enhance and support his stories.

“The Sense of Sight through a Photograph is a website dedicated to his work. It features several photography collections, from “Aspen to “Cameron Pass,“Crested Butte,“Mediterranean Landscapes,“Mediterranean Portraits,“Montana,“Pawnee, and “Rocky Mountains.”

A Love of Family, A Devoted Grandfather

One Christmas, he gifted each grandchild a camera. Watching them explore their world through their camera lens brought Jack great joy and laughter.
